52 Year old Dyran sat back as if to better focus on the past... “I remember pulling up to Graceland at about age 20, the staff was at the front door and pointed to the side where parking was located,” he told me.
“I parked and walked up the steps where you hand over your admission ticket – the staff asked me if I was the nephew of Mary Stigler who worked for the Presley family,” he stopped and focused on me as he said, “My Aunt Stigler worked for Elvis for years and I never knew it – I thought she worked for some rich man in Germantown because she never spoke of her boss.” He explained that he thought the staff was joking with him and he would not have believed any of it until she came walking down the interior steps to introduce him as her nephew.
Keep in mind, Graceland was not a great big tour stop with a museum across the street 32 years ago in 1986. In fact, by '86 it had only been open to the public for four years. Furthermore, Elvis' aunt Delta lived in the home until her death in 1993, which is when Elvis' daughter Lisa Marie Presley inherited the estate on her 25th birthday.
As luck would have it Lisa Marie happened to be at Graceland visiting with her mother when Dyran decided to see the interior of Elvis' home. He told me, “My aunt introduced me to Lisa Marie and she [Lisa Marie] told me that my aunt changed her diapers!”
Lisa Marie lived in Graceland from when she was born in 1968 until her parents divorced in 1972. But, she was always a regular visitor, even after the death of her father in 1977.
