"I just had a job interview, I didn't get it," he said looking down. "Sorry man," I instinctively replied. "Do you have anybody, a wife, anyone?" He looked up and said, "Nope." He told me he walked about 90 miles for the interview. Someone gave him a ride for 10 of those miles. I asked how old he was and he told me 35.
He uses the stroller to haul his tent, sleeping bag, neatly folded blanket and personal belongings. "Where are you originally from?" He told me, "California." I asked the question, "Do you ever sleep in shelters along your travels?" He told me no, "I feel like shelters are for people who have given up, shelters are like - like, uh, retirement homes, you know... for old people."
